Newsbrief: NVidia has rolled out a new update for its Shield handheld game system. Among the new features, the update includes a new 'Console Mode,' effectively turning the Shield into a home console. Console Mode works by hooking up the Shield via HDMI cable to a user's television, and then pairing the device with a Bluetooth controller. This enables players to access their Shield game libraries as well as the Google Play store. Furthermore, users are also able to run NVidia's GameStream feature (now out of beta) in order to stream PC games through the Shield handheld -- provided, of course, players have a compatible graphics card on their PC. GameStream currently supports 720p resolutions with plans for 1080p down the line. You can learn more about today's Shield update here.
