As part of our continued look at Octobers App Store activity, this blog takes a look at the geographic differences of the reviewers. We believe this blog will give you some idea of the different trends in each market and acts as a follow on to the article we posted earlier in the week.
To begin with we’ve taken a look at the latest stats around players leaving reviews around our 7 monitored countries. The latest numbers continue to show the dominance of the United States market over these 7 territories.
There is a fairly consistent view to the top games across the 7 territories, only Minecraft: Pocket Edition, Head Basketball & Pokemon Go challenge the current dominance of PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator, CSR Racing 2 & SMILE Inc.
As you can see from the table above, Simulation games are doing extremely well currently and are dominating the top genres chart across each territory. Interestingly, Ireland moves against the trend when it comes to Puzzle & Card games, preferring Sports & Platformers.
As of October, Player XP has now started tracking individual reviewer influence to try and detect patterns amongst the data to highlight emerging trends. We’ll be blogging more about this soon.
The consistently shown in the findings of this blog post highlight once again the difficulty in breaching the major releases. The dominance of certain titles across multiple territories show once again the standardised nature of the App Store.
This data and more will be included in our ‘The Player’s View of the Market — 2016/2017’ industry report which will be available in the new year, for more information head to the Industry Reports page on Player XP.
