Casual game giant PopCap Games' recent 48-hour iOS sale raised $200,000 to be donated to earthquake relief in Japan, the company announced today. Over the past weekend, March 19 and 20, the company discounted the iOS versions of all of its games, including Bejeweled, Plants vs. Zombies and Peggle, and partnered with the International Red Cross in a pledge to send all proceeds to victims of the disaster. Plants vs. Zombies recently reached the top spot on the iPhone and iPad sales charts in Japan, making it "the most appropriate game to feature in this fundraising campaign," as PopCap said. Capcom and Sega also pledged to donate proceeds from discounted Street Fighter and Sonic games on the App Store. Also in the iOS space, PaRappa the Rapper developer Masaya Matsuura and OneBigGame announced that all DLC for their game WINtA will "directly support Save the Children in setting up a network of child friendly spaces for children in the worst affected areas of Japan."
