Helsinki-based developer Reforged Studios has received a $2.5 million investment from Chinese video game outfit, NetEase.

Reforged's experienced team makes the startup an attractive prospect, with many of its employees having previously held key positions at EA, Blizzard, Riot, LucasArts, Ubisoft, and DICE to name but a few.

The cash injection will be used to accelerate and enhance development projects, including the studio's first game: an as of yet unnamed fantasy army battler due to release on mobile in 2016.

"Gaming is undergoing unprecedented growth and exciting changes," said Teemu Vilén, Reforged CEO. "The partnership with NetEase, a company with tremendous experience on PC and mobile worldwide, allows us to be a part of the future of gaming globally."
