Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in a custom compiled list. This week brings Rage, Dark Souls and NBA Jam: On Fire Edition to North America and Europe, while Japan gets Child of Eden and Ougon Musou Kyoku X. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending October 8th, 2011. Games Released in the United States: id Software prepares to launch its post-apocalyptic first-person shooter Rage in all regions this week. The game arrives as id's first major console and PC release since 2004's Doom 3, and features a large focus on driving and racing gameplay in addition to a variety of RPG elements. Also arriving on store shelves this week are From Software's Demon's Souls follow-up Dark Souls, 2K's basketball franchise update NBA 2K12, and Ubisoft's Just Dance 3, which marks the franchise's first appearance on the Xbox 360 as a Kinect-compatible title. Xbox Live Arcade will host a number of downloadable standouts, including EA's NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, Robot Entertainment's Orcs Must Die! and Sega's Dreamcast-ported Sega Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5 Part 2, while the PlayStation Network gets the crime-themed multiplayer FPS Payday: The Heist and a port of Rudolf Kremers' ambient exploration game Eufloria.
