Report: Comcast, EA teaming up for game streaming to cable subscribers

Newsbrief: According to a new report from Reuters citing several anonymous sources, Comcast may soon offer EA games via its X1 cable boxes. The companies are said to be teaming up for a game streaming service which will allow titles such as Plants vs. Zombies and FIFA, among others, to be purchased by Comcast cable subscribers and controlled via phones and tablets running Apple's iOS. According to the report, Comcast and EA have been testing the service for two years, and will at first offer casual games before potentially branching out into core titles. X1 is an HTML5-based set top box service which allows for streaming of cable content to TVs and smart devices, such as tablets, and which is capable of running custom-made apps.
