The Oculus Rift will make its European and Canadian retail debut on September 20, with Oculus hoping to have over 600 demo units in select stores by this fall.

More interesting than the Rift finally heading to retail, though, is the headset's UK price hike.

Oculus previously indicated the Rift would launch with a suggested retail price of £499. In today's blog post, however, that figure has been upped to £549.

The European price remain unchanged at €699, and while no reason has been given for the price rise in Britain, some have already started to point the finger at Brexit -- which caused the value of the British Pound to plummet.

Oculus isn't the first headset manufacturer to adjust UK prices following Brexit, with HTC recently upping the price of its Vive headet to £759 from £689 "due to recent currency valuation changes and the current value of the GBP."
