The International Center for the History of Electronic Games (ICHEG) at Strong National Museum of Play announced that Stephen Jacobs from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has joined the organization as a Visiting Scholar. Jacobs, who serves as Associate Professor of Interactive Games and Media at the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT, will advise and assist the development of ICHEG's eGameRevolution project over the next two years. The Strong National Museum of Play's eGameRevolution exhibit allows museum guests to explore the history and cultural impact of electronic games. eGameRevolution will feature two dozen arcade cabinets, along with a number of home console and PC games available for guests to play. The interactive 5,000-square-foot exhibit will open at Strong on November 20th, 2010. Jacobs will additionally assist ICHEG in its game-related collections, generate content for the CHEGheads blog, edit a themed issue for the museum's quarterly publication American Journal of Play, and develop grant applications for ICHEG activities. "I've been a fan of the museum since I moved to Rochester in 1989 and their evolution over that time has been nothing short of amazing," said Jacobs. "Strong National Museum of Play and ICHEG are vibrant, exciting places to visit, and I'm really excited to have this opportunity to work with them as they grow their efforts in the field of electronic games. "What's more, our relationship has already begun to open doors for RIT students and faculty to work with them as well. I'm looking forward to a productive and enriching two years."
