The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
In a step forward for user generated content in console games, Rockstar has given its "seal of approval" to, curated and distributed its first batch of GTA Online missions.
Rockstar has launched the first wave of "Rockstar Verified" jobs -- player-designed missions -- for GTA Online, the online mode for Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar putting its seal of approval on user-created content is a significant step for user-gen content in triple-A console titles -- and may herald gains in acceptance of these tools and modes by both players and developers. As of its December 10 patch, the game contains a beta version of tools for players to create their own jobs across two game types: deathmatch and racing. Rockstar has now chosen and will distribute the first wave of player-created curated jobs across both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In its blog post announcing the jobs, Rockstar invites players who have created their own to share them in the comments for potential inclusion in a future Rockstar Verified jobs update -- and promises that "many, many more Rockstar Verified Jobs" are due in the future. You can read about the first jobs selected at Rockstar's site.
