Newsbrief: Addmired, a mobile social games startup in Palo Alto, California that has a handful of popular free-to-play games under its belt, today announced that it has changed its name, alongside a new round of funding. The company is now known as Machine Zone, although its management did not divulge the reason for the name change. It has also raised $8 million in Series B funding from Menlo Ventures, following a funding round of $5.3 million last year. Machine Zone, which has released games such as iMob 2, Original Gangstaz, Global War and Race or Die, has seen nearly 40 million downloads of its games via the iOS App Store.
