With E3 more or less done and dusted for another year, Facebook has teamed up with analytics outfit Pulsar to answer that all important question: who won the conference war?
According to both firms, speaking to VentureBeat, it was Sony who walked away victorious this year, with the PlayStation creator drumming up the most interest during the week running from June 7 to June 14.
Data shows that Sony’s conference racked up the most mentions during those seven days, capturing over 30 percent of the conversation and dominating Microsoft, which finished a distant second.
"This data (shown below) is based on a live feed of what people are actually feeling and connecting with," said Leo Olebe, the director of games partnerships at Facebook,
Regarding the chatter itself, it was males who shouted the loudest with a 72 percent voice share, while there was an equal split between the 18-24 and 25-34 age groups.
This is the first time Facebook has tried to analyze the conversations generated by E3, and Olebe says the social media giant wanted to give game devs and publishers a real-time “heat map" of what’s trending.
