Sony has announced a package caontaining an HD remake of the PS2's Tekken Tag Tournament, a preview of its sequel and a CGI movie will be coming exclusively on the PS3. [UPDATE: Publisher clarification.]
Sony has announced it will be publishing the next title in Namco's long-running Tekken fighting game series exclusively on the PlayStation 3 this holiday season. Tekken Hybrid will include an HD revamp of PS2 launch title Tekken Tag Tournament, as well as a four-character Prologue demo for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and a feature-length CGI movie titled Tekken: Blood Vengeance. All three entries will be contained on a single Blu-ray disc, according to the announcement, with Tag Tournament 2 and Blood Vengeance both supporting stereoscopic 3D. 2009's Tekken 6 was the first title in the series to see release on a non-Sony home system, with an Xbox 360 version launching alongside the PS3 version. The PS3 edition of the game premiered at 16th in the U.S. sales charts, 3rd in Japan and 10th in the UK. The Xbox 360 version appeared only on the UK charts, premiering at 15th. Tekken 6 was the top-selling title for Namco Bandai across all platforms for 2009, shipping over 2.5 million copies. [UPDATE: Namco Bandai has clarified that it will be publishing the title in the United States, while Sony will be publishing the title in Europe.]
