- Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara If you've paid attention to Sony's press conferences this year, only Japan teased new, high-profile Vita games. In Europe and North America, the system has largely been given over to ports of indie titles -- but even so, the handheld has "found its niche," says Sony UK boss Fergal Gara, in a new interview with Eurogamer. "It's currently in year-on-year growth and enjoying a healthy year," he told the site. " It's not the biggest niche in the world... But for those who want that more specialist device and a more specialist experience, it does a damn good job, and therefore it trucks along quite nicely." In the full interview, Gara talks up the upcoming Vita version of Minecraft, among other titles, while admitting high-profile games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss aren't likely to recur. Earlier this year, Sony Computer Entertainment president and group CEO called the Vita "an extender or an enhancer for the main platform," meaning the PlayStation 4, and Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida also said that new first-party games would not be forthcoming for the system.
