In an effort to reach out to the mobile gaming community, mobile networking organization PlayPhone has announced a free, sponsored webinar that will examine some of the most important business issues facing modern app developers. The webinar, which will be held April 10, will cover topics ranging from monetization, distribution, and player acquisition on smartphones and tablets. The speakers will include PlayPhone senior directors Scott Prather and John Grotland and management consultant Michelle Sheiman, all of whom will share insight on making it in today's mobile market. During the session, the presenters will pick apart the modern distribution models for mobile games, and will explain why opportunities for success exist outside of the traditional app stores. In particular, the speakers will compare a handful of existing social gaming networks, and will demonstrate how these services can help developers expand their current audience. Finally, the speakers will examine the nature of modern social games, and will argue why many games that bear the "social" label aren't very social at all. PlayPhone hopes to address this issue with its own mobile gaming network, and during the webinar the company will outline how it hopes to enable more meaningful player-to-player relationships. The 60-minute webinar will be held online at 11:00AM PT on April 10, and interested parties can sign up via the session's official registration page.
