Newsbrief: A team of university students has used the CryEngine to convert historic maps and engravings from 17th century London into a 3D fly-through demonstration of the English capital. Pudding Lane Productions, a group of six students at De Montfort University in Leicester, built the demo in conjunction with the British Library and GameCity. The "Off the Map" competition, which the team today won with this submission, was sponsored by CryEngine creator Crytek. Students were challenged to adapt maps from the British Library, including maps of Stonehenge and the Pyramids at Gizeh in Egypt. There is currently no word regarding whether the team will release the map to the public. More images from the project can be found on the team's website.
