This week mobile game titan Supercell is once again working with Apple to sell special "(RED)" cosmetic in-app purchases for its games -- Clash of ClansBoom Beach and Hay Day -- and donate the proceeds to The Global Fund To Fight AIDS.

This is one of many promotions taking place this week to raise money for AIDS charities, but it's especially notable for game developers because Supercell is one of the top-grossing mobile studios in the world.

Last year, the company reportedly tripled its revenues thanks to the earning power of Clash of Clans and Boom Beach, and for the next few days some small portion of those earnings will go directly to a financial organization which dispenses funding for AIDS treatment and research.

Apple does this sort of charitable promotion across its retail and digital storefronts around this time every year (World Aids Day is today, December 1st) and in previous years the company has engaged in similar partnerships with both Supercell (for Clash of Clans alone) and other prominent game developers like Rovio (Angry Birds) and GungHo (Puzzle & Dragons).
