Teesside University Degree Plan Receives Skillset Accreditation

Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for creative media industries in the UK, has awarded an accreditation to Teesside University for its Bachelor of Science degree plan in Computer Games Programming. Skillset's accreditation spotlights exceptional university courses that fulfill professional criteria and teach skills that are crucial in a career in programming. Teesside's program is the sixth of its kind in the UK, and the first in England to win Skillset's award. Skillset cites Teesside's strong relationships with local game developers and publishers as being a deciding factor in the awarded accreditation. "A very big congratulations to Teesside University, which has gone the extra mile to involve the computer industry in the course," said Kate O'Connor, Skillset's Executive Director of Policy and Development. "The accreditation panel was particularly impressed with Teesside's links with regional companies like Eutechnyx and Ubisoft, as well as the maturity of the students' work." Other universities that have earned Skillset's accreditation include the University of Abertay Dundee, University of the West of Scotland, Glamorgan Centre for Art & Design Technology and the University of Hull.
