The cost of acquiring users on mobile is going up, up, up

New data from research firm Fiksu sees cost per install (CPI) shooting up over 100 percent on both Android and iOS year-over-year, and loyal users getting crazy expensive to acquire.

Research firm Fiksu has released its latest report, which shows that the cost of mobile users is continuing to gain dramatically. Cost per install for iOS has hit $1.32, with Android at $1.91. While both have have seen recent drops, iOS CPI has increased 26 percent since last August, and Android has grown a whopping 103 percent in the last year.

Meanwhile, "cost per loyal user" -- people who open an app three or more times -- is even more expensive. To acquire one of these, you'll pay $4.04 on iOS: An increase of 117 percent year-over-year.
