Sony finally discontinued its PlayStation Portable last summer after selling over 80 million units worldwide, but that isn't stopping Victor Ireland's Gaijinworks from releasing two new (to North America) PSP games: Class of Heroes 3 from Acquire Corp. and Bandai Namco's Summon Night 5 (pictured).
This is intriguing because it suggests Gaijinworks and partner MonkeyPaw Games are seeing sustainable business from localizing and selling digital and physical editions of games that have been available in Japan for years.
Gaijinworks previously launched a Kickstarter in 2012 to fund the North American localization of Acquire's Class of Heroes 2, then went ahead and did it anyway when the campaign failed to hit its fundraising target. The company released the game on the North American PSN in 2013 alongside a limited run of Class of Heroes 2 PSP UMDs.
Gaijinworks gauged interest in those physical editions by polling its fans, and plans to do the same for Summon Night 5 and Class of Heroes 3. The former is expected to launch in North America and Europe this year, while the date of the latter's Western debut remains unclear.
