THQ and the Random House Publishing Group have announced the establishment of a joint team, dedicated to developing IP through games and books. The new venture will see the companies creating "a rich IP universe" across multiple mediums that complement one another, expanding IP such that fans can become more fully immersed in a game's world. THQ is looking to bring more of its properties into book publishing formats, as it did recently with Homefront: The Voice of Freedom, a prequel novel to the one-million selling shooter Homefront. It wants to increase Random House's involvement in its IP creations. Keith Clayton, director of creative development at RHPG, said of the move, "Working with THQ has been nothing less than a huge pleasure for us, and we have very lofty goals for where this project will go. It's really inspiring to work side-by-side with partners who share our creative passions as well as our view on the evolution of the entertainment industry." "We truly think that this is the new direction for entertainment, and we're proud to be leading the way as we provide a platform for storytellers to have their visions realized across multiple mediums." THQ director Lenny Brown noted, "This collaboration is a shining example of how we can generate interesting and exciting publishing opportunities as our various media continue to converge."
