Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says the company has taken note of Pokemon Go's recent triumphs, and hopes to release its own augmented reality mobile title in the future.
In a recent earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the company has taken note of Pokemon Go's recent triumphs, and hopes to release its own augmented reality mobile title in the future.
"On the mobile strategy, to come to Pokemon Go first, we are impressed by what Nintendo has been able to achieve, and yes we have that kind of product -- not exactly the same product as Nintendo's -- that uses AR," explained Guillemot.
"We don't have something coming soon, but it's on the way."
Pokemon Go continues to make waves as it slowly hits the global market, and climbed to the top of the U.S. iOS app store charts within a day of its launch.
As the game gathers momentum, Nintendo has seen a huge upturn in fortunes, breaking daily trading records on the Tokyo stock exchange, and more recently overtaking PlayStation maker Sony in terms of market value.
Focusing on Nintendo, Guillemot also had some praise for the Japanese giant's mysterious new hardware, the NX.
When asked whether he'd seen anything new since this year's E3 conference, the CEO said he hadn't, but revealed that what he has seen is "really great."
"From what we've seen the NX is really great, and we think having a new machine come in is going to help the industry continue to grow, and to take a lot of casual players back to the industry."
