12 years after its debut, Valve's Steam platform surpassed 10 million concurrent users yesterday amidst the opening salvo of its annual Steam Summer Sale.

The number of concurrent Steam users has been steadily rising alongside the platform's total number of active accounts, which surpassed 125 million in February of this year.

These numbers are a feather in Valve's cap, to be sure, but they're also good news for developers launching games on Valve's platform. The company most recently rolled out a clear-cut refund policy for Steam users, and developers are still grappling with what that means for their bottom lines.
