Vancouver Film School has awarded full-tuition scholarships to four aspiring game developers as part of its sixth annual Women In Games Scholarship program, but this year there's a twist -- the four winners can choose to apply their scholarships to both the VFS Game Design program and its new Programming for Games, Mobile & Web program. The recipients of this year's award include Andreia Goncalves of Portugal, Meabh McCarthy of Ireland, Macarena Poo Garcia of Mexico, and Elizabeth Wright of Alberta, Canada. VFS claims the Women In Games scholarship is the "first initiative of its kind in the world," and previous recipients of the scholarship have gone on to work at developers like DeNA Studios Canada (G.I. Joe: Battleground), Microsoft's BigPark studio (Joy Ride Turbo) and United Front Games (Sleeping Dogs). The application period for next year's Women In Games scholarship has already closed, but you can keep on eye on the VFS scholarships page for further opportunities.
