The Weinstein Company, the multimedia production and distribution company founded by Miramax brothers Bob and Harvey Weinstein, has launched a gaming arm called TWC Games. The purpose of TWC Games will be to work with development studios on games based on The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films properties like Scream, Hellraiser and Halloween, among others. Co-chairman Bob Weinstein said the company wants to keep up with the rapid evolution in the game industry: "With all of the digital platforms, there are so many opportunities to broaden our audience with compelling, high quality, cost-efficient, video game entertainment," he said. TWC Games will work with production company Beefy Media to help it reach out to the gaming biz and establish strategic relationships with game publishers. Beefy Media is a game production firm that works with IP holders to build new gaming franchises for both digital and retail. TWC production and creative affairs VP Matthew Signer and Beefy Media president Adam Boyes -- who is former director of product development for Capcom US, where he played a key role in Capcom's digital games initiative -- will spearhead this work, collaborating closely on production aspects related to the games. "We plan to combine our extensive video game developer relationships with the impressive catalogue of properties to create and produce content made by gamers for gamers," Boyes explained.
