On October 28 YouTube will introduce YouTube Red, a $9.99 a month premium service offering ad-free videos, original content, and offline playback.

At a launch event this week attended by TechCrunch, YouTube representatives said the vast majority of YouTubers who earn ad revenue from the service have signed a YouTube Red revenue share agreement with the company, though it's yet unclear what sort of cut they'll get from the program.

Those who did not agree to the revenue sharing scheme will have their videos hidden from public view of all YouTube users -- not just Red subscribers.

A single Red membership will extend across multiple devices, and will also grant users ad-free access to the YouTube Gaming app. Those in the U.S. will be able try YouTube Red for free when the service launches in a week's time.
