Newsbrief: Today Zynga announced that it has acquired Rising Tide Games, a startup focused on making social casino games that was founded by its former head of social slots Maytal Olsha. Olsha and her co-founders will join Zynga.

In a canned quote, Olsha said that she's excited to partner with "the talented Spooky Cool team and the Zynga Austin Studio" on the social slots category. It shows how much the company has gone all-in on slot machine games, lately. After layoffs in May, founder and CEO Mark Pincus said the company's goal moving forward is to "narrow and intensify our execution focus around the big opportunities that are in front of us today."
