Social games company Mob Science, the team behind over a dozen Facebook titles, has raised $1 million in a new round of funding, as a means of accelerating the growth of its social games portfolio.
Social games company Mob Science has raised $1 million in a new round of funding, as a means of accelerating the growth of its social games portfolio. The company has released over a dozen games via Facebook, including the likes of inFamous Anarchy, Coffee Bar and Snowball Fight, and its games have been played by more than 50 million users. The San Diego, California-based studio is also one of the early Zynga Platform Partners. Its next upcoming game is an RPG for the Zynga Platform, based in a fantasy world. This latest round of funding for the company was led by Joyent CEO David Young, GameSpy Industries founder Mark Surfas, and a number of other angel investors. Mob Science plans to use the funding to more aggressively push its product development, and to bring key talent into the company. It has also signed a lease on a new, more spacious office in San Diego. Michael Witz, founder and CEO of Mob Science, said that with this financing and the Zynga platform support under its belt, Mob Science plans to develop "our best and most ambitious game yet."
