1stGameEver Channel Launches with Will Wright

Everyone remembers his or her first time. Whether we recall it fondly or not so fondly, our first time was probably awkward, a little embarrassing, and definitely full of mistakes. Snap out of it, we are talking game development!

1stGaveEver - Will Wright

Everyone remembers their first time. At PAX East this year several developers from places like The Tap Lab, Turbine, Dejobaan Games and Owlchemy Labs got together to tell the stories of our first games and share with everyone the lessons learned from that experience. It was personally one of the most fun panels I have ever been involved with and the video is now available.

We were given the opportunity to show off some 1stGameEver videos from industry veterans like Raph Koster, Will Wright and Jesse Schell (his video is coming later this month). This look into the history and genesis of developers has spawned an opportunity for the entire game development community to share their story and show off what lessons they learned.

Game developers from Fire Hose Games’ Max Voelker and Nyamyam Studios’ Jeniffer Schneidereit to Henry Smith, creator of Spaceteam, have already shared their stories, which will be released in the next few months on the 1stGameEver YouTube channel.

The goal of the project is to show the human side of game development and to try to let aspiring developers know that it is ok to fail. Not to mention these stories almost always entertaining and fun. So jump in and submit your story to [email protected], the entire industry is waiting to hear it.
