Catching Up Part 1: The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)

Analysis: Mediocre. It was probably the most popular system Nintendo has ever put out there, second only to the 64. I don't know, but the games were good. I'm sure I didn't get nearly enough of them since I never played Earthbound or anything.

I skipped right over the NES. I was busy playing with toys, watching cartoons, and having a relatively free, developing mind during that heyday.

Let's see what I can remember.... Super Mario World, Star Fox, SimAnt, some creeppy Ren and Stimpy game I think, F-Zero, Earthworm Jim, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles maybe, Primal Rage, ughhhh.... there's probably some I can't remember. Fucking Aladdin! Amazing. Must have beat that one a dozen times. Battletoads, mmhmm, any coop game because of my brother.

Kind of missed the big, famous ones until later consoles and systems: Mario Kart, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Ultima, Bomberman, fighting games altogether, Star Trek (just cause I was raised a Trekkie), Prince of Persia, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Mega man and some other stuff.

What I learned: initial "video game" experience with a console, and cartridges (blowing into them to make them work). Use of a standard controller and a television. Learning is fun. Fun is learning. The start of my realization that games are what life is about.
