GameCareerGuide.com has been running a weekly Game Design Challenge, an exercise in becoming a game developer, for students and other game design practitioners. The latest challenge is to design a communication system for an MMORPG targeted at children. Safety is the biggest concern, but the game and its communication system must also foster a nurturing environment in which children will play. Anyone can participate. See the challenge as posted on GameCareerGuide.com for the complete assignment and details on how to enter. Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 5 p.m. PDT. The only other advice is to try to keep your responses to 500 words or fewer -- unless they’re really good! Professional game developers can also participate without creating a full submission by visiting GameCareerGuide.com’s forum, where readers first go to flesh out their ideas. Game dev pros are welcome to give rookies real advice as they struggle to meet all the design specifications of the MMORPG for Kids challenge.
