Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
An explanation of some of the activities at my log cabin
I really want to get moving along with some of the other houses (area's) of the game, so I'll try to make this post about the "Log Cabin" the last one for awhile until it comes into play in the game later.
The gist of Fishing- First person view, 3rd person view.
- Plays much like Pro Fishing Challenge except you don't need a boat (but boat will be available to fish from). There will be an inventory on the character and extra inventory at the log cabin.
-You can change view from top of the water to underwater. Underwater view may reveal something on the floor or lake that could be useful. Such as a fishng lure or a knife, maybe a pair of old sunglasses. Or a map or treasure chest. Sumtin'
- When a fish is caught it's statistics will come up displaying them (Weight, type of fish, and what you can do with it)... A materials list will be presented telling you what materials can be gained from this fish and what you can use them for. If it's a scoreboard fish, it will automatically go to the leader boards, and then you can do whatever you wish with the fish.
- Fishing gear- Poles, hooks bait, line etc. Can be bought, sold, found or self manufactured and stored in your inventory/s.
A fish feeder can be made or bought and placed where you want to attract fish. (You can't attract fish onto dry land) But you might see a walking catfish.
-Crafting and fishing- You may craft things to fish with and craft things from fish such as Crafting hooks from metal, or making fish leather or bait from fish. And the list gors on, and on, and on.
The gist of Hunting- First person/3rd person/ Scope view
- Plays much like other hunting games. You track and hunt animals. You will have you inventory/s.
-You can switch between views, and you may find something of use while hunting, such as wild mushrooms or other items like arrows, or something to make arrows etc and so on.
- When an animals is harvested, stats will come up the same as fish and a materials list with an explanation of their uses will be displayed. Record size animals harvested will go to the leaderboards. There won't be any guessing, you will be told that the estorous can be used to make X product, or the hide can be used for this and that, etc. You can then use what you need to use, then do whatever you want with the rest.
Hunting gear- Weapons, ammo, coverspray, camoflauge etc, can be bought, sold, found or self manufactured and stored in your inventory/s.
An animal feeder can be made or bought and placed where you want to attract animals you want to hunt. (You can't attract animals into the water for harvest) Common hunting rules apply.
Crafting and Hunting- You may craft things to hunt with and craft things from harvested animals such as Crafting bullets from lead, or making animal leather or predator bait from animals. etc.
You can hunt from the boat but the boat must be at a complete stop and engine/s turned off. You may only hunt from land vehicles if the land vehicles is dedicated to hunting only. Like from a half track or full track. Dedicated hunting vehicles cannot be used in sanctioned races. But you can race your freinds just for the fun of it, or make a freindly bet between racers of these vehicles. (The rules for racing hunting vehicles may change. There might be sanctioned races for hunting vehicles)
Bass Boat Racing- Your bass boat is also a racing vehicle, it can race in sanctioned races. Winners that come in 1,2,3 place get a prize. if 9 players race. If 6 players race 1st and second get a prize etc. Similar to poker payouts. This can be an easy way to make money if you have a bass boat to race.
- Views- 1st and 3rd person views... You won't find anything laying around while racing, but you might discover a new fishing hole.
- All boats must be equivalent in power to race. For example, you can't race a jon boat against a bass boat. That would be unfair. But you can tweak each boat a little to make it perfom better. One player might have less gear on board making them go faster, and another player might have a lighter framed bass boat etc.
But Boat racing isn't all about that either, one person might know a quicker route, or one person may mess up in their handling of the boat somewhere during the race.
Anyways... The first to the finish line gets the best prize.
- Gear- An appropriate boat, an appropriate engine, and other players to race. There will also be solo races available against NPC racers available.
Crafting and Bass boat racing- You may win crafting items when racing and you'll be able to craft items for racing. You might win a better engine that'll let you race in higher pay out races. Or You can craft item from ... Let's say aluminum. Aluminum is lighter than cast steel, so you may want to craft an aluminum frame or Aluminum engine parts for better performance. etc.
You can fish and hunt with any racing bass boat. Some boats will be better suited than others to tackle each one of these jobs.
Gardening- On your log home property you will be allowed to grow crops of food and various other plants for selling, crafting, and personal use.
You pick an area of you property, till the land what ever way you can (you might find something like a recipe or a time capsule) while your tilling.
Once you've tilled the land, you are ready to grow. You need seed or seedlings. You need water, and you need time. You can over water and over fertilize your crop and they will die before fruition. Same goes if you underwater or under fertilize. You may end up growing the plants but may not get them to produce any fuits, veggies, or other things you want to grow. because you fed them the wrong fertilizer. etc. ( I may consider adding PH requirements to growing crops) because PH plays a huge role in growing things.
Keep in mind, there is also the chance you can grow something simply by throwing seeds on the ground. But the chances are slim.
Gear- Seeds, seedlings, tiller, fertilizer, plot of land, etc. (Some tools speed up the process)
Crafting- You can craft item to help you grow your crops, such as making fish emulsion from fish parts for fertilizer. Watch the ph balance, it may burn your plants, and they'll die, meaning you'll have to start over from scratch.
You can collect seeds from the wild: if you see a tomato plant, you can use the seeds from the tomato, to grow other tomato plants. Or you might decide to transplant the whole tomato plant. There will be rare plants you can cultivate also. You may also buy and sell seeds or seedling to speed things up a bit, and make more money.
You can use the plants and fruits from the crops as ingredients to craft other things, such as tomatoes for seeds or consumption, or simply as decoration, you may decide you want to grow corn to put in the animal and fish feeders or self consumption, you may want to grow grapes for wine and us e the fibers to create twine for rope. etc.
You can sell, and use any of your crops for various reasons, it isn't there just for looks, unless you want it to be.
You must look after your crops or they will die, but it's not an hourly thing... When you come back from fishing. Check on your crops. the next day you might want to look in on them, everythree days you may want to water them. Diferent plants have different conditions that need to be met, but it's entirely possible to grow roses and tomatoes in the same plot of land if it's managed correctly. And while it's growing, your off doing other things like hunting or fishing, or decorating, or improving the living conditions, or racing, or lookin for stuff to do other things with.
