Microsoft has announced that July 7th will see the release of a new Halo 3 multiplayer map, as well as a number of other gamer pics and themes and a drop in price for the last DLC set, in honor of the so-called 'Bungie Day.' The new multiplayer map, called Cold Storage, is similar to the Chill Out map from the original Halo. Microsoft describes it as a "once vibrant, active research center" now "emptied and silent, watched only by a local caretaker," which "serves as a reminder of how something as powerful as science is ultimately beholden to nature." Bungie's last Legendary Map Pack, released in April, will see a price drop to 600 Microsoft Points ($7.50) on July 7th as well. The pack originally cost 800 Points, and contains three more maps inspired by those in earlier games, including Avalanche, Ghost Town, and Blackout. Finally, Bungie will release seven new gamerpics and a 'Bungie Day' dashboard theme on the 7th. Microsoft explains that "the tradition of Bungie Day was born in part due to the significance the number 7 has played in all of Bungie’s games over the years, including the “Halo” series (7 Halo rings, Master Chief is Spartan 117, etc.)."
