Ashes Cricket Tops Charts For Second Week In UK

For the second consecutive week, Codemasters' Ashes Cricket 2009 has topped the all-platform charts in the UK, once again edging out Nintendo's Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit, Chart-Track said Monday. Ashes Cricket 2009, Wii Sport Resort,and Wii Fit came in first, second, and third, respectively, for the week ended August 15. The top three games were identical to last week's charts. When Ashes Cricket 2009 debuted at number one last week, Chart-Track attributed the game's sales to an aggressive marketing campaign. Prior to Ashes Cricket 2009's debut, Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus-enabled game Wii Sports Resort had held the number one spot for two consecutive weeks. Falling out of the top 10 from last week on the all-platforms chart -- which includes unit sales of all versions of a given title -- were EA's Fight Night Round 4 and The Sims 3, which came in 12th and 13th this week, respectively.
