The Writers Guild of America chose to honor the team behind Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's story and script at this year's annual awards, as the title beat nominees like Fallout: New Vegas and God of War III, among others, for the nod. Patrice Desilets, who was the franchise's creative director at Ubisoft before leaving to head up THQ's Montreal studio, was credited for the game's story overall, along with Jeffrey Yohalem and Corey May. Yohalem is also credited as lead script writer, while the names of script writers Ethan Petty, Nicholas Grimwood and Matt Turner were also noted as script writers. The awards were just recently held at two separate but simultaneous ceremonies for the guild's eastern and western constituencies, in New York and Los Angeles on February 5. This year's award considers games released between December 1, 2009 and November 30, 2010. To be eligible, the games need to contain separate writing credits -- and importantly, only writers who are members of the WGA or who have applied to be members of the WGA can be considered. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood launched in November 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. It's a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed II, and its plot revolves around a long-running assassin's guild under siege by the shadowy Templars. Protagonist Desmond Miles is able to revisit the experiences of Italian noble and ancestral assassin Ezio Auditore through "genetic memories". The player adopts both characters at different times throughout the story, which finds Ezio assembling a brotherhood of assassins to combat the Templars.
