Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Leads BAFTA Game Award Nominations

The British Academy Video Games Awards nominations have been announced, with the likes of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Call of Duty: Black Ops in the running for multiple awards. The awards recognize 44 games from the last year over 16 categories, ranging from Best Game of 2010 to Technical Innovation. Ubisoft's Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is up for seven BAFTA nominations, while Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops and Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain are nominated for six each. Other notable releases include BioWare's Mass Effect 2 with five nominations, and Playdead's Limbo and Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2 with four a piece. This year sees the inclusion of the new Social Network Game category, with online hits such as PopCap's Bejeweled Blitz and Electronic Arts' FIFA Superstars in the running. The publicly-voted GAME Award is also included, with the nominations compiled by "a panel of gaming journalists and enthusiasts". The shortlist includes Call of Duty: Black Ops, FIFA 11 and Bungie's Halo: Reach. The awards ceremony will take place in London on March 16, and will be streamed live on the BAFTA website.
