Rockstar Games and Take-Two on Tuesday revealed The Ballad of Gay Tony, the next Xbox 360-exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content, due this fall. The Ballad of Gay Tony puts players in the shoes of Luis Lopez, “part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka "Gay Tony")”, Take-Two said in a press release. It’s the second GTA IV expansion for Xbox 360, following The Lost and Damned in February this year. Take-Two also said that it would be releasing both of the expansions on a single standalone disc at retail under the title Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. It will retail for $39.99 and will not require a copy of GTA IV to play. "We're quite pleased with the download performance on the first episode," said Take-Two president Ben Feder. "We've also seen opportunities -- and demand -- at retail. Both channels are important to us... while we're pleased with the download, we saw an opportunity to take advantage of retail as well." "It's a great opportunity for consumers who have not been able to buy these on Xbox Live," said board chairman Strauss Zelnick on the company's call to investors. "You don't have to have the original title, which is an important element of this." The Ballad of Gay Tony, which will release for $19.99, revolves around the nightclub life, as opposed to the biker gangs of Lost and Damned, Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser said. Like the Lost and Damned DLC it requires the original GTA IV to play.
