Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Not only have the top six games in the UK game sales chart remained exactly the same as last week, with THQ's Cars again atop the ranking, but the top three have remained unmoved for an unprecedented five consecutive weeks.
Not only have the top six games in the UK game sales chart remained exactly the same as last week but the top three have remained unmoved for an unprecedented five consecutive weeks. Despite this, Q Entertainment's N3: Ninety-Nine Nights has emerged to become the first new entry in the top ten in six weeks. The rest of the chart though is by now overly familiar, lead by the triumvirate of THQ's Cars movie tie-in, combined sales of the PlayStation 2 and PSP versions of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and the continued success of New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DS. The only other new face in the top ten is the budget re-release of Star Wars: Battlefront II, one of many official or retail budgeted titles which currently make up the top forty. At long last though the UK summer games drought, which has seen such a lack of chart movement and new releases, is almost at an end. Titles such as THQ's Saints Row, Capcom's Dead Rising, Atari's Test Drive Unlimited and LucasArts' Lego Star Wars II should finally see a rich vein of new blood entering the charts in the coming weeks, as the long build-up to Christmas begins. The vanguard of these new releases has this week included Eidos' Reservoir Dogs film license, which debuted at number fourteen and could have charted higher, if not for the recall of the Xbox version due to a printing error that omitted the age rating on the disc. Meanwhile, U.S. blockbuster Madden NFL 07 has entered at only number thirty-seven, significantly down from its brief appearance in the UK top ten last year.
