Upcoming first-person shooter Crysis 2 will get an Xbox 360-exclusive multiplayer demo beginning January 25, publisher Electronic Arts and developer Crytek announced today. Available for Xbox Live Gold members, the demo will give players their first chance to visit the game's ruined Manhattan setting in a team-against-team multiplayer environment. Each player will be clad in the franchise's signature Nanosuit armor, the abilities of which offer players numerous gameplay options. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli says the company has aimed to create a "top contender in the first person shooter genre," with multiplayer, created by Crytek's "specialist multiplayer studio" in the UK -- formerly TimeSplitters house Free Radical -- to play a major role. Adds Yerli: "The Nanosuit gives gamers a sense of power they have yet to experience in any other shooter, and having New York City as a backdrop will present a different type of playground with even more possibilities." The multiplayer demo will focus on the "Skyline" map, and players can choose from two modes: "Team Instant Action", where two teams compete to kill the most opponents, and "Crash Site," where players try to guard alien pods from enemies. Crysis 2 launches on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 22, 2011.
