Stainless Games, the developer behind 12 Xbox Live Arcade titles like Crystal Quest and Happy Tree Friends has announced it will have a new title available for the iPhone within the 'launch window' of the new App Store's arrival. The developer says the platform is "one of many" that has been added to Beelzebub, its in-house cross platform development environment, along with XBLA, PS3, PSP, PC and Wii. CEO Patrick Buckland called the platform an "irresistible choice" to develop for, noting the company's long-standing support for Apple machines that goes back as far as 1979, including Carmageddon and Crystal Quest. No details on the new title were given at this time, but Stainless promises new details in the coming weeks. The new 2.0 iPhone firmware and App Store digital download platform are expected to launch by July 11th, the same day Apple will be launching its upgraded 3G iPhone model. "Given recent trends," said Buckland, "the iPhone is doubly interesting – since it’s both a truly next-gen machine with an ‘always-on’ connection and a format with a great direct sales route to the consumer.”
