The phenomenal sales of the Square Enix DS RPG Dragon Quest IX continue, as Japan's Enterbrain said the game has sold over 3 million units in its first three weeks. As relayed by the Agence France Presse, Dragon Quest IX sold around 3.2 million units in Japan from its launch on July 11 to July 26, making it the fastest-selling game for the DS, Enterbrain said. The game has only launched in Japan, with other territories to be announced. In its opening weekend, Dragon Quest IX sold 2.34 million copies in its first two days, bringing out long lines of fans at Japanese retailers. Square Enix said earlier this month that it expects to ship more than 5 million units. Not only has the game lit up software charts, but it also drove a sizeable boost in sales of Nintendo DS hardware, more than doubling DS sales week-on-week on the game's release. The game has easily led Japanese weekly sales charts since its release.
