Electronic Arts has gained its least surprising number one debut of the year, with the latest yearly version of the FIFA soccer franchise becoming the seventh fastest selling game of all time in the UK, just behind FIFA 06. The game is also the highest selling PlayStation 2 FIFA title ever and the fifth fastest selling PlayStation 2 game of all time in the UK. The PlayStation 2 version also managed to increase its proportion of overall format sales from 80 percent to 84 percent. The game is available on all formats, although the Xbox 360 version is not due to be released until October 27th. Eidos’ Just Cause has enjoyed a successful second week in the charts, with sales up 17 percent, while Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 saw an increase of 88 percent and LMA Manager 2007, despite a drop from fourth place to sixth, experienced a rise in sales of 28 percent. Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts II, meanwhile, seems destined never to repeat the same success as in North America, although its modest debut still saw five times more sales than the original title in the UK. The final new entry in the top ten is PC-only real-time strategy game Company of Heroes at number seven. Outside of the top ten, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition entered at number thirty-two, delayed from its American release because of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe policy concerns over re-releases with additional content. Finally, Nintendo’s 42 All-Time Classics (aka Clubhouse Games) on Nintendo DS has had a slow start at number thirty-six.
