Electronic Arts has announced that its Fight Night Round 3 team is creating a new arcade boxing IP at its EA Canada studio entitled Facebreaker, expected to be released sometime this year on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. EA says the game "offers irreverent fun, immersive gameplay and eye-popping stylized graphics," with individual boxers having unique attributes and personal style including "Romeo, a Latin lover known for his pelvic thrusts, and Molotov, an oversized Russian demolitions expert with a penchant for fighting dirty." The publisher says users can upload photos of their own faces to create their own personalized boxers, which can be distorted with the game's real-time facial deformation. Other features of the arcade style boxer include "haymakers, face shots and body blows," and "super punches," as well as the ability to taunt your opponents by "tying one hand behind your back to add ultimate humiliation to your bout." Said new EA Sports president Peter Moore, "We’re very excited to announce Facebreaker, an all-new franchise from EA SPORTS that is fun, fresh and innovative. Facebreakerreinvigorates one of the great genres in sports video games. Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup. In no time at all, you’ll be picking up the controllers and knocking your opponent around the ring, smashing faces, and having a riot.”
