After two weeks of record breaking new launches the latest UK sales charts sees Grand Theft Auto IV and Wii Fit solidify their positions, with few new releases to test their position. Rockstar’s record-breaking new release saw a 77 percent drop in sales, but still managed to hold onto both the first and second places in the individual format charts and break the 1 million units sold mark. The Xbox 360 version widened its lead over the PlayStation 3, accounting for 62 percent of sales compared to 55 percent last week. Wii Fit sales fell by 48 percent in the hardware bundle’s third week, with combined sales of Grand Theft Auto IV outselling it by a factor of 4 to 1, rather than last week’s ratio of 9 to 1. With the top four titles unchanged since last week, the rest of the chart has also seen little movement, with the only game showing an increase in sales being Take-Two’s Carnival Funfair Games. Frequently bundled with Wii hardware by retail, the title’s sales increased by 25 percent, with a chart rise of ten places to number twenty. Although there are no genuine new entries this week, the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 versions of Sega’s Iron Man debut in the top forty for the first time at numbers twenty-two and thirty, respectively. With the release of the movie in the UK, the Xbox 360 version also moves up eight places to number twenty-one. Overall in the top forty there are thirteen Nintendo DS titles, twelve for the Wii, eight on Xbox 360, four on PlayStation 3, two on PlayStation 2 and one on PSP.
