As it has done many times, New Super Mario Bros. Wii reclaimed its number-one spot on the weekly Japanese sales charts, unseating Square Enix's PSP role-playing game Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. During the week that ended January 24, tracking firm Media Create says Nintendo's multiplayer platformer sole 111,000 units, nearly doubling weekly sales of Kingdom Hearts, which fell three spots down to number 4 after holding top sales honors for two weeks. Square Enix's game has exceeded 680,000 units in total, and will almost certainly break 700,000 next week, while Mario reached the 3 million unit sales mark last week. Sega's Valkyria Chronicles 2 on PSP failed to top the charts as it debuted this week, but it was only 17,000 units behind Mario. It was followed by Namco Bandai's Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A's Portable: The Battle of Aces. The rest of the chart was fairly static, with a number of titles keeping their same positions week-on-week or only changing by one, although Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (The Best) made a surprising five-slot jump, returning to the top ten from number 13. Below are Media Create's Japanese sales charts for the week that ended January 24:
