In a week full of new releases, Nintendo's Pokemon Black/White maintained a strong lead on the Japanese software sales charts, reports tracking firm Media Create. For the week ended October 3, the popular DS duo sold 374,589 units, followed by Sega's anime based rhythm game K-On! After School Live!!, which sold 170,848 units in its first week. Taking third place on the charts is Capcom's long-awaited Okamiden, the DS sequel to the critically-acclaimed Okami. The title mimics the gameplay style of its console counterpart, while adapting the series' signature paintbrush mechanic to the DS's touch screen. Capcom's Dead Rising 2 also launched this week, and sold 79,685 units on PlayStation 3 and 43,800 units on the Xbox 360, totaling 123,485 units across both platforms. Other than Pokemon, only Sega's Black Leopard: A New Tale of Yakuza and Nintendo's Wii Party remained in the top 10 from last week, thanks in large part to this week's numerous new releases. Other new titles this week include dating sim Starry Sky: In Summer - PSP Edition, and Namco Bandai's most recent anime based fighter, Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team on PSP. Below are Media Create's top 10 sales chart for the week ended October 3, 2010.
