Portal 2 earns top honors at 2012 BAFTA game awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has revealed the winners for its 2012 British Academy Video Games Awards, with standout titles including Portal 2, Battlefield 3, and LittleBigPlanet 2.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has revealed the winners for its 2012 British Academy Video Games Awards, with standout titles including Portal 2, Battlefield 3, and LittleBigPlanet 2. The awards, held in London Friday night, honored the most well realized and innovative games across all realms of the industry, from browser games to traditional, AAA development. Portal 2 stood out as the event's top winner, earning a total of three awards, including one for Best Game. Battlefield 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2, meanwhile, took home two awards each. The evening's BAFTA Special Award, which honors particularly influential professionals within the industry, went to Mojang founder and Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson for his contributions to the indie space and the development of his hit world-building phenomenon.
