The PlayStation 2 version of Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 has remained at the top spot in the UK charts for the second week, with the Xbox 360 version still at number two. The PlayStation 3 version though has slipped four places to number seven – although whether this is due to the format’s smaller userbase or continued complaints over slowdown is unclear. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 also topped the combined format sales chart, keeping a head of Electronic Arts’ FIFA 08 despite a 52 percent drop in sales from its debut week. Back in the individual formats chart, Halo 3 has risen five places to number three, with a 46 percent increase in sales due to new retail bundles. A new advertising campaign featuring actors such as Patrick Stewart and Julie Waters has also seen an increase in sales for the two Brain Training (aka Brain Age) games, which move up six places each to numbers five and six in the charts. The only genuine new entry in the chart is the PlayStation 2 version of Electronic Arts’ The Simpsons Game at number ten, with the Xbox 360 version at number twenty-four, the Wii version at number twenty-eight and the Nintendo DS version at number thirty-six. Elsewhere in the top forty, Vivendi’s TimeShift on Xbox 360 enters the chart at number twenty-six, while The Sims 2: Castaway debuts in the chart for the first time, a week after its initial release, with the PlayStation 2 version at number twenty-seven and the Nintendo DS version at number twenty-nine. The final new entry of the week is PC-only online title Hellgate: London at number thirty-five.
