Following GameStop's recent announcement of its 2007 financial results, which saw a record $2.33 million in sales driven by top-sellers Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey said the retailer's 2008 results could potentially exceed its own predictions. Hickey expects Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Wii sales will continue to see strong sales in January, contributing to a strong Q4 for GameSpot. Specifically, the analyst offered his top ten picks for 2008's best sellers, as follows: Grand Theft Auto IV (Take-Two) Midnight Club: Los Angeles (Take-Two) Guitar Hero III (Activision) Rock Band (EA) FIFA '08 (EA) Madden '08 (EA) Burnout Paradise (EA) Battlefield (EA) Mercenaries 2 (EA) Borderlands (Take-Two) Fable 2 (Microsoft) Halo Wars (Microsoft) Fallout 3 (Bethesda) Saboteur (EA) Warhammer Online (EA) Spore (EA) Frontlines (THQ) Wall-E (THQ) Call of Duty 4 (Activision) Explained Hickey, "We recognize investors could continue to punish shares from... fears over a consumer lead recession. That said, we continue to believe the video market will grow significantly in ’08, and expect their used game model will be very attractive to a potentially stressed consumer."
