Publisher 10tacle has announced the acquisition of Berlin-based developer and marketing firm The Games Company (TGC) (Simon the Sorcerer), which it says will expand its capacities in casual and licensed games aimed at the mass market. Founded in 2006 after a merger between developers Silver Style and an outside team including co-founder Markus Malti, TGC currently employs a staff of 25 people. Apart from the Simon the Sorcerer series, which most recently won a 'Best German Children's Game' award from the German Developer Award committee, the company also develops licensed sports and TV titles. 10tacle says the acquisition "secures themselves access to a comprehensive high-quality 2008/2009 line-up featuring releases for all relevant platforms such as the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii or PC, to name but a few." Said TGC managers Markus Malti and Carsten Strehse, “We are incredibly pleased to be part of such a renowned and successful firm and look forward to playing an active role in the continued success of the 10tacle Studios AG. As new co-partner in the 10tacle Studios AG we have complete confidence in, and great expectations for, our joint future. Our development and marketing competence and our highly-motivated team of experts will further strengthen both the creativity and the quality of 10tacle Studios AG output.”
