Following recent news that publisher 10tacle would be acquiring Berlin's The Games Company (Simon the Sorcerer) the companies have announced that, instead, the latter will move away from the former and maintain its autonomy. TGC says the deal fell through "due to the restructuring and new focusing of business activities at 10tacle" which meant the necessary capital to close the transaction could not be raised, and that TGC management instead will take over the shares of its own company. TGC CEO and development director Carsten Strehse said, "All parties agree that the orientation of our business as a publisher with internal and external development competencies as vital assets does not fit into the new concept of the 10tacle group. "The reverse transaction is the logical consequence of this realization," he concluded. "Now we will expand our proprietary development capacities and invest in the development sector on a large scale.” Founded in 2006 after a merger between developers Silver Style and an outside team including co-founder Markus Malti, TGC currently employs a staff of 25 people. Apart from the Simon the Sorcerer series, which most recently won a 'Best German Children's Game' award from the German Developer Award committee, the company also develops licensed sports and TV titles.
